If I operate a rig then I would want a Cameron stack. The problem is the rig has a broken backup system from poor maintenance and all the rig workers were too scared to activate the BOP due to not have authority. They had indications of a leak over an hour before the explosion and did not activate the BOP or try to control the well. After the rig blew up is when they tried to activate the BOP which was after the BOP was already experiencing erosion from debris and fluids.
Poor maintenance and poor procedures caused the accident.
What brand BOP didn't work causing the biggest oil spill in history? Macondo... anything? Nothing. Worked on the other side as a client using them. There are many of them and performance is what you expect from a huge hunk of steel. There is one though that has many ex employees inside the clients offices fondling special needs if you know . Cameron is a money maker and keeps people drilling.
Competitor BOPs are not as reliable. Competitors also fake their performance and temp specs while cameron does not.
