Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

100 Days? Well, my store is CUTTING hours!

So, I am one of VERY few with power licenses in my entire store. And, its been amping up last few weeks with spring weather in NJ. I am constantly put in a position to either:

  1. Take off vest and leave as scheduled or....

  2. Loads the customers, make the sale, and help customers.

Well, Ive been doing #2. Today, after 3 pm, I was the ONLY person in entire store with a forklift license and one customer needed concrete loaded, another needed sheathing dropped and loaded, then a 3rd needed 4x4x8 loaded. I called every manager and no one ever picked up. So I helped all the customers.

Mind you, we have had associates there for a year, who STILL do not have licenses because MANAGEMENT is incompetent!

So get this. I stay late, take abbreviated lunches, and stay past my time to make sales and help customers. Do you think Lowe's appreciates it? Well, I was told today I am trending to be over by 1 hr and need to cut time by coming in late !

Thats the thanks Marvin gives us.

God Bless! Oh wait, my new motto is Do Less! And so should all of you. You are working for incompetent, unappreciative, douche bags. Fact!

Same here as well as a night shift stocker. The first problem ive noticed within the first 4 weeks of working there is that we are getting in too much freight coming in "Tool World". Its gotten to a point where we top stock more than actually putting items on the shelves/racks and we are losing space fast. Back to the topic they started cutting our hours yesterday after I noticed I couldn't clock in due to my schedule being changed. What pisses me of is that nobody tells you anything not even your shift manager the only thing he told me is that different ppl within our shift will now work in different nights and I don't go back to work till Sunday lol. Well I guess this is great time to look for a 2nd job during the day time.

its the end of the quarter. nothing more. they have now pushed this every quarter marvin has been in control. so i guess we should now expect the last weeks of the quarter for them to just cut hours for that reason alone.

its the principle of "marvins razor" im sure they teach it now at the community college in the business classes. do whatever you can to make the shareholders happy with you. shave a little here...shave a little there.....pay no attention to what actually could boost sales.

We were told last week by the store manager ot was available. Less than a week later, we were told thar we are over hours and now our schedules were cut. I work in oslg and I'm only getting 17 hours, something is going on. Usually cuts are at the end of summer.

cutting hours will become increasingly difficult for those areas with the new scheduling matrix. Many full time associates seem to be getting a four hour shift mixed in with nines, tens, eight and a half's etc. Several people will be working an hour or two extra on those four hour days so now we are talking overtime instead of cutting. Let's face it...if you have a half hour ride in (or more) it is not time effective nor cost effective to come in for four hours.

GC blown up mess, DM breathing down our necks telling us how bad our store looks. ASMs are a joke! We have one good ASM and talk about stretched to the limit! Other ASMs leave early every day, tell us we are not to go to the only good ASM for anything because they are jerks! Used to be a great store new SM great guy, but! How much more can we take all these years with Lowe’s in same store, I don’t want to leave but I am looking! Oh and we are sending associates to help other stores! Me DM how bad do you want things done!

yeah our store is CUTTING hours too and NO overtime for ANY level of hourly worker. they already barely hired any seasonal workers. showing no sense of urgency to replace regular FT and PT who have left. they actually seem to enjoy that it reduces payroll. the rest of the workforce has tried to pick up the slack and thus putting in overtime because..naturally...customers want to spend their money and need our help! management has all sorts of canned responses for how the work is suppose to get done but has no problem threatening write-ups when 1 person cant do the work of 4.

this now seems to be an obvious trend under marvin no matter the quarter. last few weeks of the quarter stores are instructed to trim the payroll. was "accepted" during the lighter months...but this time of year its incredibly alarming just how little they care about customer service.

WHERES ALL THE MONEY GOING! Every time they utter total BS just need to start calmly asking them if lowes is going out of business. very profitable corporation pretending theyre going out of business so as to cheat the little guy out of an extra hour or two of time and a half will result actually in that company going out of business.

I bet the guy who posted doesnt even work in lumber department. Thats how its going here. Every employee works in a department he wasnt hired for.
