Any truth to this?
So this affected managers with more years under their belt. Why is that? Company trying to keep fresh,new blood? Assumption that the newer the manager is to their role, the younger they might be? [Which isn't true... Age discrimination much?]
Probably because they cost more
As an eight year employee who took a magagement role in support, and who is now out of their role. It is correct, they have laid off two managers in our store with 20+ years for a manager who hasn't been with the company for long at all.
They've gotten rid of the ones who care about the store and who have giving it their all to ensure the customers and business needs come first. I was very proud to say I work for Nordstrom, it's hard for me to say that now.
A department manager makes, what, $40K/year. Meanwhile, some twit who writes mobile apps for several hours each week pulls down $150K (more?) in Seattle.
At some point the corp culture of the Nordstrom salesman implodes.
Yes, this is true. They are firing great managers who have given their lives for their store. This is not the way Nordstrom operates. It seems like since Blake Nordstrom passed away, all heck is breaking loose.
