Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

A few managers compared to the large number of engineers and other workers

Just like the 2008-'10 cuts. I was with GM back then and I saw first hand how they laid off only a few managers compared to the large number of engineers and other workers. I remember them shuffling managers and execs around just so they could hide them from the government appointed car czar's scrutiny. The number that has been thrown out this time to the media and reported by the media is a 25% cut for mangers and execs. It sounds like they aren't even close to that number. Oh well....same old GM.

Looks like history has a way of repeating itself. This is the same ill way.

The truth about the manager layoffs. They were offered early out packages. That was done just before the layoffs and included in the numbers.

I was one of people let go (level 6A engineer). But I do know several 8th level managers who were laid off including some who were deemed "rising stars".

I was told during the 08 bankruptcy, in my former group, the only person laid off was the director; wheras this time it was 7 people (3 engineers, 4 technicians)

In our department, no any managers and level 8s let go. The internal investigation should be done and the director should be let go if it is true.

More and more lies make this Company & this Country going down. I am proposing to publish credibility scores for the candidates of the leaders in the future, and I'd like to choose the leaders with highest scores to make GM & America great again!

Yes as they will have another round of cuts in August/September and you can bet they will get those lower level folks again and oh of course a few managers that were on the edge of retirement anyway. The GM PR groups will again prevail in their eyes as a success.
