TT has said WIN is a going to develop into a cloud type company. SDWAN and UCaaS will be the product set. Customer bring your own bandwidth so we don't have to be concerned about that. It just drives down our margins, right. We'll continue to lease backbone from others and everything is just fine. We'll just need executives, a few sale and service people, maybe a few cloud architects and we're set. 3-4K employees max. Imagine the exec bonus's then.

Have you seen the software Windstream writes (or pays someone to write). WinCare is an abomination. Synacor's email is garbage. Vision half the time wont show an IP. HDM takes 5 minutes to load any more. If anyone wants our software they have to be a masochist.
"And people would choose Windstream over an established player like Vonage or Comcast because. . .?"
Well, in this part of NC, Spectrum a.k.a. Charter a.k.a. Time-Warner Cable is pretty wretched, too. A small, well-run independent telco could run circles around them.
I don't know if someone buying this region of the Windstream ILEC could make that transformation or not. I hope so.
"Windstream ILEC will survive without CLEC. I can’t see CLEC surviving wo ILEC"
Clearly written by a person without a clue how much of the ILEC traffic traverses the CLEC network.
“ILEC will be sold off or an IPO issued and it will live or die on its own. CLEC will become the cloud based business with lttle to no access being offered.”

"Sounds like the plan. Automation and no one required to quote or sell. People will call in to place orders"
And they will be able to automate the executives jobs, which what little they do will be just a line or two of code. Think of all the money they will save from automating the clueless executive jobs!

We're becoming a restaurant.
How does that fit in with being the local phone company in ILEC areas?
Not a cloud provider but a company that simply exists in a "cloud".
Become a cloud company. Right. Suddenly WIN is going to compete with the likes of Google, Amazon, and Rackspace? Even Oracle is throwing billions of good money after bad and utterly failing.
