Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Lowe’s new policies

Are you feeling threatened into doing things you were not hired to do and held accountable? I have been threatened by management, they have even said - if anyone says they said this - they will deny it! So what am I supposed to do?

As someone who was affected by the Lowe's mass layoffs earlier this year, I no longer care if the company lives or dies, so you can take my opinion for what it's worth:

We've all seen the direction Lowe's is going, and it isn't good. Despite the fact that Lowe's has no reason to, they are acting like Sears 10 years ago.

The job market for employees is the best it's been in decades, and it's always easier to find a job when you already have one. That's my suggestion.

i was asked to get sales no matter how i need to adjust whether its padding a sale to make it look good and then removing or giving a discount, make everyone apply for a credit app even though it may be clear they will not qualify, go to the competitors in town and stand by cars and trucks in the parking lot, hand out information and take down the names and numbers of the businesses in the lots and call them to get more credit apps. it is bad, and every day is a new threat of if you don't do this, then.....

Check the laws on recording in your state and if you happen to be in a one party state then record them. They can say it's against company policy but several companies have already been in court over this and it was always found they could not deny the employee the opportunity to defend themselves in a hostile environment. You want more than one recording before playing your hand though so that you can show a pattern of threats by management. If we all stand up we can finally put these abusive managers in their place.

do what i did. have voice recorder on your phone. before any conversation with any manager, hit the record button. when i got my notice to be terminated immediately as soon as i walked in the office my recorder was running. when they started with the made up charges, i pulled my phone out and said can you say that again i didn't get all of it. their faces went flush especially when i had 3 months of recordings they forgot about firing me.

I quit a month later after having my attorney send the transcripts to Mooresville

We in the pro dept NEVER work pro! We unload trucks, and work in lumber and on register 100% of every day.

All of our loyal contractor business has left years ago because for 4 years now, my store manager simply doesnt regard pro as a priority. He uses the staff to plug holes elsewhere and he says its because corporate will not budget for coverage and hes doing best he can.

We in Pro are harassed daily, and threatened. We speak up and we get intimation, lies, and threats.

And simultaneously, they criticize us for lack of sales and performance, KNOWING we are taken away from our desks!@!!! Its very unfair, unprofessional, and unethical.
