At Ford we have 8 layers--GSR (General Salary Roll, aka, the worker bees), and then Supervisors, Managers, Chiefs, Directors, VP's, Executive VP's, and the President. As for ranks, college grads get hired in as GSR 5 and then get promoted to 6, 7, and finally GSR 8. If they then become MR's (Management Roll), they first become LL6 (supervisors), then LL5 (managers), etc. etc. all the way up until they reach LL1 (VP's and above). [Side note: patronage, luck, and having a big mouth is the way to get promoted at Uncle Henry's. And sorry guys, it also really helps to be a female, just sayin!]

Raj , this has to be some kind of merger in the works , I agree. Massive hirings in 2014 and 15 and then all of a sudden massive firings in 2019 ? All under Barra ! Clearly someone isn't managing the store efficiently.

I understand Ford laid off many managers an directors on their first round of cuts. GM hardly touched the leadership roles on the cuts leaving a top heavy organizational structure. Of course those remaining will suffer as leadership always plans more tasks and expect the same with limited staff. GM did do a few token cuts that the press made sure they published. I go by hard core numbers and they didn’t do enough above for a smaller organization. As I posed before: either a merger or a slow death of a once great giant. This fall more lay-offs coming and I can bet they only have a trickle of leaders who are let go. Morale is bad here at the VEC. I can see it in everyone’s eyes going to and coming back from the prayer room.
