is that some of the employees or dept managers that you thought were great to work with and would always help out in tough situations and who always stood up to management when an issue arose- are now doing whatever it takes to save their jobs.
Guys or Gals in their fifties who realize they have no other skills than working at Lowes turned to the dark side quickly when they figured out they were next ones out the door.
How can they look themselves in the mirror
Female, over 50. Have put out 25 resumes in the past 3 weeks and have not heard from 1 prospective employer. I ended up calling one company to see if they received my application and was blatantly told that I may be qualified for the position but my work history isn't what it should be.
My resume contains 2 jobs. My first job started at age 18 and I lasted 20 years and then left to work for Lowe's and have 18 years with them now.
So if I want to continue to eat and have a roof over my head I will just have to brush up on my chameleon skills
Given the chance between keeping a stable lifestyle with a good paycheck and keeping one's integrity by standing in solidarity with one's coworkers against company bullc-ap, you'll find most people will always take the former. Just remember when they say "It's only business" that it translates to "I want to eat tonight, even if it means seeing you go hungry."
At some point however, no matter how good of a collaborator they are, they'll get dunked by someone higher up the food chain who not only needs to keep food on the table, but likes to take their boat out on weekends for good measure.
Its always been like that at Lowes.

I've noticed that chameleon factor in every retail job I have had over the past 50 years.
Anyone who has skills and experience that locks them into where they are will become what is needed to survive.
