The severance package states there is no compensation for unused vacation unless dictated by State Law. Michigan state law states that earned unused Vacation time must be paid upon severance. Anyone know how much vacation time was earned by those of us involuntarily severed?

I took 4 days off in January as I was expecting to go. I wish I took a few more. I will never get 5 weeks again
Michigan only mandates companies to pay unused vacation time if that company has it written in their policy that they will do so. In other words, if GM had written in their policy that they will pay unused vacation when an employee quits/ separated (vol or involuntary), then MI law will uphold that and require it. GM can't back out and refuse to pay vac time.
Reality is that GM policy strictly states that they will not pay out unused vacation time because they s--- donkey balls.
Yes, but we need to correct it if anything is against Michigan State Law!
When you signed the severance agreement, you agreed to the terms, including no vacation time.
I got the unused vacation paid when I switched the jobs in the past. The GM separation paper states that GM will not pay unused vacation time. If anybody knows that Michigan State Law doesn't allow them to do that for sure, can you please point out where we can find that so that we can ask GM?
Accrued vacation is based on prior year. That is why you can take all of your vacation Jan and Feb and then retire Mar 1 😃.
GM will claim that they offered you paid vacation for the whole month of February after 2/4. You won't get any compensation for unused vacation. Move on.
usually vacation for salaried individuals is never paid put from any employer. It may be paid out if you are hourly and you accrue it..... not sure as the about is not clear if they are talking about salaried or hourly workers.
