" Whenever an injury occurs then we’re part of the “UP family”and we nearly lost a member of the “family” guys. But when it’s time for layoffs to boost the profit of the stock holders it’s just capitalism.... After record profits and a huge tax break. "
One of the most incisive things written about this whole debacle. I'll be sure to save it. Remember, you can always contact journalists as well. You'd be surprised, they write back, and it's important to send some of these guys a differing opinion. I recommend reading up on UP in the Wall Street Journal, just google it, and write to those writing positive or neutral pieces on PSR.
It may not make a difference, but outside of our echo chamber here, the mainstream media just thinks that UP is doing a-ok, just another cost cutting of admin personnel. When you write to those who write the blasse articles about UP, and talk to them, you plant that important seed of doubt.
Remember, the vast majority of Americans, including stock traders, do not have any proper understanding of freight railroads, their history, what it takes to run them, their social contract, quasi-monopoly, and on and on....
Anyway, I don't want to take the spotlight off you; very well written. FYI, I looked at UP like my family and never thought that a group of Nebraskans, that seemed to care about the company long term, would turn out to be what they are. Yup, I woke up.
