Can someone please explain why employees buy Cisco stock? It makes zero sense to me. Yeah it's $50 and you get it for a discount but who cares. I have purchases two stocks only over the past 5 years since I've been with Cisco - Facebook and Amazon. I have invested roughly 125k in stock over that time. My initial investment was 15k. I have no doubt my RIO was far better than if I purchased Cisco stock. Buying Cisco stock feels like it's the safe thing to do for people who don't know how to invest properly.

GE was also listed as a top dividend stock.
Cisco stock might well be a Wall Street favourite, but there is no denying that the company is toxic and the products s--- toe-cheese. Who wants to support such a system? I refuse to participate.

You definitely get a guaranteed 15% return. Free money. Think about it.
Guaranteed 15% minimum Return in a 6 month time span is very hard to beat.
Your highly non-diversified investment strategy of buying two stocks that have been hot is not a long-term successful strategy. Just look back at all of those hot stocks pre-bubble burst.
When you factor in dividends the return on the Cisco Stock is even better. As long as it is part of a balanced portfolio then it makes sense. If it's your only investment vehicle it doesn't.
