Every store I see here in central Il. looks dead in the water. Almost no cars in the lot or people in the stores. They look like K Mart of the early 2000s. Which is actually all fine with me; I never was a fan, could never see the sense in having to pay someone a membership fee just to come in and buy their hardly even discounted sh!t. Thoughts from anyone else as to what Sam's vital signs might be?

Sam's is best for small businesses and big families. That doesn't describe the majority of today's market, so this alone is killing them. And yes, the membership fee is ridiculous. If they're going to continue that they should at least offer some periodic stimulus sales to draw interest. But these are the c---y Waltons we're talking about, so that'll never happen.
Yea the membership fee is killing them. I would shop there occasionally but I sure as hell ain't gonna pay for a membership to do it. The prices really aren't that great considering your buying everything in bulk.
We have a wonderful sams club and always busy.......love me some sams
Why
I feel ya. It's too bad for the workers, many of who been there for a lot of years. I feel bad for those folks. But the stores themselves are in deplorable shape, what they need to do is just drop the membership fee. That might boost them some.
Sams club decline is noticeable if you look at closing clubs and reduced positions/payroll. Sam’s growth was like climbing a hill with more clubs opening every year, now Sam’s Club is descending the hill, declining, but growth in sales and profits continue. Why? There are several reasons, but I guarantee the buzz is not about shopping at Sam’s, it’s about who is most competitive and winning at it.
