Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

The investors woke up when will the rest of us???

People are venting at the destruction of Windstream. No raises...not a prison, more with less, fake leadership. The fact that Directors on up get stock bonuses, managers up get a bonus, more VP's than they know what to do with, Directors with 2 - 4 staff departments, comments like it is not a prison (not a prison if you make millions a year). The investors woke up when will the rest of us??? Maybe he was asking to be laid off to get a package and finally be done with "when is the other shoe going to drop". While it is stressful to be laid off, the uncountable layoffs over the past 3 years have taken a toll on the health and wellbeing of the employees. The layoffs started in the 1st month of this year....really sets the tone for what to expect the rest of this year....but hey we weren't laid off so "shut up and enjoy yet another year without a raise".

I apologize if this post looks like it was taken out of context, given that it was originally a reply to another thread, but I felt it was truthful and precise. Thanks, @Xvovxoh-1pam

"You wouldn’t have a job if they didn’t lay people off."

In legacy telecom companies like WIN - and yes WIN will always be considered a 'legacy telecom company' - layoffs are part of the industry because the leaders at all these companies receive such huge payouts - along with their executive teams, that when revenue fails, they start cutting the workers who helped build the business. They don't want to cut their bloated salaries, even though they are the ones that caused the company downfall.

If these legacy telecom companies had been able to properly run these companies, many of the layoffs wouldn't be needed. Smaller telecom companies like Cincinnati Bell are doing great - they didn't become bloated with needless acquisitions - and now are not trapped under huge debt they will never be able to pay back.

Reigning in the corporate greed in paying themselves first is half the problem in these and other companies. But the regular employees at WIN and other companies are just using them as training grounds to get better jobs at companies that treat their employees better.
