General Motors put us all through hell for an unknown future. I have almost 3 decades and have watched leader upon leader run their play to the tune of billions only to be undone by the next CEO. We had a great culture when I hired in. We took all the work we could, had great teams, made great products and the company had our loyalty. We made the company run while executive leadership gave away the company due to ineptitude, lethargy and arrogance. Many times they were focused on a buzz word, project or slogan that would advance their careers while the company suffered.
Buses, heavy trucks, electromotive,Medium trucks....gone!
Mary et al have the catch phrases and slogans posted on Socrates, fly the flags to pander to segments of society, must make them feel like they care about the culture at GM or the people. We see through the fake culture.
GM wants to be loved by wallstreet at the expense of the people that make it happen every day by doing more with less.
Sure, I was spared this week, all clear. I am blessed to have this job.
I see GM as a means to an end for me as many do. I regret the culture is dead at GM. I never plan on "retiring" in life, just can't sit still, will be buried in my work clothes.
This round of cuts and the pain I saw since November has affirmed that GM is not my home. My loyalty is a reflection of the leaderships to us. None. We are resources to GM not people or individuals. GM will get 110% from me until I leave because that is my nature. They know human nature and unserstand people will still give a rip because of our personal character and work ethic. Not because we are part of something great.
