Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

So they laid people off, what now?

Curious what happens now. New hirings, contractors, college grads, H1B’s, outsourcing, third party companies? One thing is for sure, we can’t handle the workload whit these numbers.

Couldn't handle the workload before. The best thing you can do is toss it into the management teams face. Contractors will be brought in to pick up the slack, after salary right sizes itself.

Found out one of our trainers for our department was let go. Second best self appointed prodigy is going to step up to fill the role. It's like trying to get a drivers license. They train you for a year the proper way. Second best, gives you the license in two days, without any prior skill. I'm not making this up either. Second best is quicker, but quality be damned.

Unfortunately quality, morale and customer service are going to suffer. Our team was already short staffed before the first announcement.

I plan on being at work and doing a c-appy job. What are they going to do, fire you? Performance wasn't taken into account in this layoffs. It was a joke. I work 45+ hours a week...nights, weekends as necessary, for what? An extra few percentage on Team GM/Salary?
