Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

3 stakeholders but one is getting the shaft

There are 3 stakeholders in any business. Shareholders, customers, and employees. The company has to satisfy all 3 in order for it to work. So many companies (many, many) only care about shareholders (or ownership if a private company) and customers while sticking it to employees in terms of treatment, overworking, understaffing, mass layoffs, etc. before the chickens come home to roost. Not tending to and investing in your employee stakeholders who drive the company results in low morale, low initiative, poor performance, and poor company relations with the community.

This hits the target. Yep, three stakeholders and only one is paying the bill...

You can't shaft the shareholders - they would take their money to a better investment.

You can't shaft the customers - they would just buy from some other company.

You can shaft the employees - they could take their skills to the next company... but most of them won't

You are deceiving yourself if you assume there is consideration for yourself.
