Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Warning to all MIC's!!!

IAMAW is now working to screw over it's own! They are pushing an emergency grievance to try and abolish the safety of Right of Selection jobs from the seniority layoffs! Why? Because for decades few have ever stepped up to do the work in yards or road calls comfortable with slacking off at shops across the system, however now after not caring for said decades the complacent ramp workers who wanted nothing to do with MIC work are complaining about seniority rights which have never had bearing on ROS jobs per contract agreements! already heard several local chairs have refused to provide contract copies when requested to hide this fact. And worse yet is it is all to save people who regardless will be gone the coming month or the next, etc. Sadly UP is the only ones watching out for us now as they have already stated they would not agree to a grievence. Watch your jobs, talk to your local reps and raise hell, and be prepared to lawyer up against those who claim to be your brothers and have your back.

Sounds like the union did the right thing. Seniority is all we have left, furloughs start from the bottom. Sorry this happened to you, but at least you still have a job. Plenty of other members don’t have the option you do. This is only temporary, just look at the history of psr. Stay strong.

Well at least those 3 still have jobs but god damn that's b---s--- on the union guys part. Companies play their part but the real silent killer of unions is the backstabbing handwashing who you know favorite playing all while preaching brotherhood and solidarity. Guess its really come to everyone for themselves. F---ing sad.

The MIC agreement is a C&NW agreement. This isn't the first time we have had layoffs and the C&NW agreement clearly states that Mechanics in charged can not be pumped during a layoff or a reduction in force. This agreement goes all the way back to 1926 so I sure theirs plenty of past precedence to look at.

So the kiss a-- ROS yes men claim that “the Company is the only one who has their backs”.

I guess that’s how they got those ROS jobs.

Not what the op was getting at. Heard a rumor about this last week. Basically they want to be able to layoff lower seniority guys that are Mic under right of selection than them getting skipped over is what the issue is from what it sounds like.
