I didn't watch the State of the Union. Any mention of the GM debacle?

people should read the state of the union transcript, and books, instead of listening to what the mainstream media, facebook, their mother, their pastor, their CEO or anybody else tells them about presidential speeches and books and ideas
It was mentioned with subtlety. Strong statement that things should be "Made in the USA." Deliberate.
We were finally generating huge amounts of cash. So what do you do when you finally have money in the bank. Of course you must spend it, right? Tear out all the cubes, jam people together, dig a hole in the ground at Design and cover it back up, and then say you're broke and you need to fire people. And then blame it on short term steel prices at the same time you admit it is your long term strategic plan you are executing.
Fortunately we are a functioning republic so companies can make their own decisions. Unfortunately GM is public and with a bad history and ascendant competition, so they feel the need to react quarter by quarter.
Trump supporters will always be trump supporters they are too blind to see what's really going on and that every news to them are fake news except for the news that are broadcast on trump radio
Didn't mention GM but did mention made in America. Portion of transcript below
To build on our incredible economic success, one priority is paramount -- reversing decades of calamitous trade policies.
We are now making it clear to China that after years of targeting our industries, and stealing our intellectual property, the theft of American jobs and wealth has come to an end.
Therefore, we recently imposed tariffs on $250 billion of Chinese goods -- and now our Treasury is receiving billions of dollars a month from a country that never gave us a dime. But I don't blame China for taking advantage of us -- I blame our leaders and representatives for allowing this travesty to happen. I have great respect for President Xi, and we are now working on a new trade deal with China. But it must include real, structural change to end unfair trade practices, reduce our chronic trade deficit, and protect American jobs.
Another historic trade blunder was the catastrophe known as NAFTA.
I have met the men and women of Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Indiana, New Hampshire, and many other States whose dreams were shattered by NAFTA. For years, politicians promised them they would negotiate for a better deal. But no one ever tried -- until now.
Our new U.S.-Mexico-Canada Agreement -- or USMCA -- will replace NAFTA and deliver for American workers: bringing back our manufacturing jobs, expanding American agriculture, protecting intellectual property, and ensuring that more cars are proudly stamped with four beautiful words: made in the USA.
You all really need to get a life if all your worried about is Trump. Maybe take a look at Mary being on Hillary's short list for vp as a possible reason we are having deep cuts amid good profits, If you want a conspiracy theory

New slogan: Make America Great Again (except for GM workers!)
Not sure how you could easily put that on a baseball cap though....
Trump isn't the reason for what's going on at GM, he talked FoxConn back into opening shop in Wisconsin. Mary Barra was on his business council but quit because of dumb political reasons. Trump was willing to work with her. Unfortunately, he can't force companies to stay here.
Nothing is going to happen to GM long term. No one really cares unless you are living it. People will always buy the car they covet even if it is from an unethical, greedy company. Consumers have a short term memory (sadly).
Trump has his faults, but he's not the reason GM is restructuring.
Let's vote him in again as he clearly stands behind his promises!!
No mention of GM.
No mention of this GM debacle
Make America Great Again.
