For those that got the axe what was said? Was there any reason given?

Ah yes, since this company is known for transparency I'm sure a robust explanation will follow.
It was very scripted and like some I was told my position was being eliminated....then HR proceeded to say some more scripted BS so I told her to cut the sh!t and not sugarcoat it to just move on...she then told me that on GM behalf thank you for your service and ended the call.
I was informed by HR, it is part of the "restructuring" and she also mentioned that HR would be getting the cuts too, and from the look on her face I don't think even she knew if she would be around frankly. I would not be surprised that a lot of manager who walked folks out today, may themselves finding being walked out later in the week or next. Only the execs know what targets they are trying to reach, or maybe the Directors have some clue, but sure as heck most of the managers know zilch!
Told I was part of the cost cutting, no mention of my position being eliminated (it can’t be as my position was funded by an ESA with China).
Same. Positions will be eliminated. I asked why and "several business and strategic decisions that blah blah blah I'm reading from a script"
