Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Clarification... not a lay-off...

A lay off is when you are presumed to be called back at least that was the definition back in the day... At GM.. what is happening is a termination; a complete separation with NO hope of being called back. Unfortunately this is my second go around. I do believe that I have learned more and have experience to add to my resume. Having said that, I will be dusting off my resume and sending them out! I believe I have a lot of value to add to a company, I just did not fit the “next stages” that GM has envisioned. I hope that everyone takes the high road, and moves on. Just don’t let anyone take away your spirit or your confidence! Praying for all my friends!

You are right..lay off sounds more gentle though. But it really is a termination.

Good luck to everyone. Unfortunately in this town, you are in good company if you get laid off , terminated, etc.
