Higher salary usually correlates with higher age.
Companies are super cautious of being sued these days. Therefore, they can't just go after only older employees who are 7s, 8s, 9s... They could be taken to court for age discrimination.
I wouldn't be surprised at all if the legal team told them they have to mix it up and throw in some 5s. It can't appear they are targeting a particular age group. Just like they can't be seen as targeting a certain gender, or race, or any other group.
That said, my gut feeling is level 5s are relatively safer than the higher levels.
Don't worry too much. We will all get through this week one way or another and be stronger and wiser at the end of it.
