Defamation is an easy case to win. The hard part is proving damages. In Trump's suit against the NFL he won the lawsuit but failed to prove damages well. His reward $1.
Mission accomplished. The message got through regardless.
We need to sue them, so... this entire issue gets even MORE press coverage...

I think the idea of "If you want to sell here, build here" is ridiculous. It is absolutely ridiculous to hold to that standard especially for a global company. You need a factory in Iceland to sell in Iceland? No.
But I also think that maybe GM owes Canada a huge debt. Perhaps $10.8 billion plus high interest, payable in either cold hard cash or equivalent investment? But they've also paid that back.

Freedom of speech/press. As long as it's not a lie or spreading misinformation, which it's not, there is nothing GM can do. GM's feelings are hurt and they just have to deal with them.
