Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

And it continues...

So far, several of our best people were escorted out. WTF? Who is the id--t who decides who to lay off??? Does he uses a blindfold and a dart to make the final choice?

@Xs2456h-iiv Not true, I saw a manager escorting an employee out the back door (volleyball courts/smoking area) at the Austin Parmer office

Just seen 25 people get walked. Lines of Uber’s out in front. Assuming just Incase former workers say “ they didn’t drive to work “

I have said from the beginning that it is going to be a combination of performance, pay, grade level and age. If too many older workers show up on the list younger ones added to balance it out.

I was told (privately), years ago, that the "selections" are made by HR consultants and attorneys in order to avoid class-action suits by "aggrieved" demographic groups. Too many lawsuits filed against GM after past layoffs.
