Don’t forget Ford was actually the one that announced layoffs before GM. People tend to forget that.
These guys are in the same boat as us if not worse since there’s been zero talk about their layoff.

With GM since 1999. Been driving Yukons for 15 years now. Wife has a Model 3 since October. If Tesla had a truck for 60K I’d ditch my Yukon. This should be concerning to all of us.
Ford will also can around 15- 20,000 workers in 2019... then FCA will can another 10,000 workers... all new programs are canned... people start eating canned foods... this thread should be called canned or conned....
Severance package wise yes, it was definitely better than GM. However, their layoff numbers are supposed to be even bigger than GM.
Ford has been smarter at communicating but if you go through the comments it’s the same story.
And shame on you buying that sh--ty car. That’s the problem with GM, ugly a-- cars when it’s all the same technology as the Tesla that everyone is hard as a rock for. That’s GM’s fault. . Design center at fault.
I work at Ford and the big focus regarding layoffs is Europe right now. But internal managerial discussions have started on North American layoffs. News on Europe will come first in the press though.
No one is in the same boat. Everyone has their own boat. There are no excuses for being canned.
Ford was admirable. The local papers contrasted Ford and GM. Ford employees left voluntarily October 1. They were paid through the end of the year. And get another 12 months of pay in 2019. Compare that to GM. Their voluntary plan was the same as being fired. GM should be ashamed of themselves. But no. They will tout their Boy Scout behavior to the world. What a crock. BTW I've got a Volt hot off the auto show floor to sell you. Unbelievable.
