Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

The IT locations: Austin, Chandler, Detroit, Roswell, and Warren

The IT locations of Austin, Chandler, Detroit, Roswell, and Warren were chosen so that GM could get the best and brightest IT talent in these locations. It would always be required when insourcing IT because there are only so many high level technology professionals willing to tough out Detroit winters.

Outsourcing would be a complete failure as the time difference, and quality difference American born and bred engineers give you makes all the difference. Anybody that has outsourced IT know what problems occur with it. They overpromise and underdeliver. When you need a new feature in a GPS system that has to run perfectly to maintain confidence in the American public you have to employ the best, and GM IT is the best in business.

The best and brightest from the top colleges don't want to work here because NCH pay is below market level. I mean seriously.. who wants to work for a broken "dying automotive company" unless they are about to retire..

Mott began his insourcing before Barra became CEO, for what it's worth

GM IT are no longer 'the best' in the business. Too watered down by NCG that don't have real world experience or business knowledge. But then again that was Mott's plan all along. Take GM down. Look at all the disasters in his past. I wonder what he spiked Barra's drink with to get her to go long with his insane hiring rampage.

If you want to work at 'the best', go to an IT company not a dying automotive company that has a nut job trying to make it a technology company when he wouldn't recognize technology if it bit him on his entitled butt.
