My first job right out of college and thought it would be a stable, long-term position. I'm an IT architect in Austin, TX. Was notified this week that my job may be in jeopardy along with the entire group but nothing is certain yet. Don't know what to do....just bought a house and car and really don't want to relocate. Nothing worse than the unknown and having to wait through the weekend to find out what happens next week. Feel like drinking heavily to be honest.

I have to agree. New fresh out architect? Troll. Not that I can't sympathise with anyone in this situation, Been there, done that many times.
I'm in the same boat with the new condo & car deal. I get it. Look, this is stressful for anyone, especially someone who hasn't been through this before. You're in Austin which has a hot job market. If you're a NCH, you're going to be cheap compared to those of us who have "Senior" in front of our title.
First, wait until you find out if you're getting laid off. Don't borrow trouble. Go read "The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F***", it will help.
Second, go update your resume with all of the skills you've learned and the things you've accomplished. That will reduce your stress since you will have accomplished something.
Third, after that, take this weekend for self-care — get drunk, bang your ****-friend, hang with other friends, watch mindless TV, go sit in the stuffed animal section at Terra Toys, or whatever works for you.
You're going to be okay.
Well at least this troll post is better quality than most. "Just bought a house and a car"....the layoffs we announced in October. Nobody in IT is that dumb.
For non-trolls, continue the job hunt. Its true that GM assigned many people with very little experience as Software Architects but that wont fly with other companies.
You're in Austin. Look for another job.
New college hire as an IT architect? What exactly are you architecting?
So why aren't you job searching? Austin is booming with tech
