I have been with GM for over a decade. It is a great company to work for. GM has been good to me with a generous salary, bonuses and great work-life balance flexibility. These are hard times and I am uneasy about Monday, but if I get let go I won't be angry, but grateful for the great run. I will look forward to change and a new adventure in life. If I stay, I will be grateful to remain part of the GM team because GM is on a path to do great things. Rest easy my GM brothers and sisters, come what may, we will all find our way. You are all in my thoughts this weekend and I pray for comfort and peace as we approach this difficult week.

The person didn't come off as entitled.
Why is everyone so mean spirited? This was one person's personal experience at GM , these people come from a time when they really didn't have to bounce from company to company , that wasn't a concern for them when they started a carrier. Today's world as everyone knows is completely different , I could be wrong but the times 20 , 30 years ago was different , maybe some of you are a little bitter because of that fact , get a degree work at the same company , retire after 30 years is long over. I would suggest corporations are making the younger set pound pavement and hustle harder , you guys and gals along with myself included have no choice but to conform. I could be very wrong , what do you guys think ? I'd like to know .
I think I just barfed...
Stay positive OP! Thanks!
You disagree with my experiences at GM and my outlook of looking forward to a possible new adventure? :) I suppose I view life differently. I have not been mistreated but I have been treated well. I won't take it personally. My career at GM has provided stability for raising a family and aquiring wealth and benefits. Perhaps because I am surrounded by entrepreneurs in my life I see the ups and downs in these businesses and the tough decisions around staffing that are required for the company's survival. So, if I part ways with GM, I truly will have gratitude for this season of my life and I will look forward to new experiences and adventures around the corner.
Far too many inadequate with their less than 20 years, hoping an praying for a world they don't understand. With enough time, they learn. Without enough, they fill their mind with pie in the sky nonsense.
Go and experience the world, and find the stories of those 20 year olds, to be the truth. You will learn, one way or another.
Way too many "I've been with GM for 20 years" comments here. Nothing wrong with staying at a company for a long period of time, but that doesn't entitle you to anything. Perhaps it's time you go out and see how you really stack up against others.
By the way I really like the OP and his/her positive attitude. All the best to you
You can't be serious about your gratefulness? What do you owe them? Nothing. What do they owe you? Nothing. There is no loyalty is today's world. You earned your paycheck and they paid you for services. You act like they were doing you a favor.
I've been with GM for 20 years, and I disagree whole heartedly with your comments. Does that make my quantity of servitude more valid than your statements?
