After reading several of these comments, I'm very concerned about my future. I just graduated and am still paying off my loans. I can't afford to have 1-year jobs on my resume and would like to stay here for at least 5 years but I don't know if that's possible because I may be cut. Does anyone know how many jobs in Austin are being eliminated?

If you get to work on a variety of business domains using a variety of software since you would be learning and growing.
Remain committed to Technology.
If you work in IT, you are so f---ed. How long do you think that you will stay employed hopping from company to company every 2 or 3 years? By the time your 40, and almost 20 years out of college, you will be so stale that no company is going to want to try and make it work anymore.
The average tenture for young IT folks is 2 to 3 years. Your salary is stagnant the longer you are at a company. Going to a new company also expose you to new technologies and pratices. The more you know the more marketable you are. The longer you stay in a single company, the less you will know. Funny how that work.
It's 2019. Don't expect to stay at a company 5+ years. If you're under 30, several 1-2 year gigs will help your income a lot more than starting at one place for five years. You get a sizeable party jump each time you change.
it's better to job-hop at the beginning of the career for faster growth, unless you see the growth at your current company, recruiters will understand if you mention layoffs as the reason for your 1 yr stint. don't stress-out
Reality: you shouldn't work for the same place for 5+ years. That's NOT a good thing in IT. Recruiters and employers may think you're satisfied and stale.

There are many articles that come to a similar conclusion. In IT, you should always learn more, become proficient at new technologies, and always always always be on the look out for your next move.
If you're not comfortable with this, IT is not for you.
Those "in the know" are probably worried about their own job security and aren't at liberty to disclose such numbers to the masses. u're probably level 5 so the target on your back is much smaller than the higher leveled employees.
