I've heard 500 people are going to be cut from Austin alone. Directors are the only people that can notify an individual so it will take several days into next week. Managers were first, starting today. Then down the chain. The package is supposed to be quite generous (almost 5 months plus bonus and years served). In the metros that have strong IT presence, it should be fine to find another position in that amount of time. Having gone through this same thing myself at HP, it always ends up being a better outcome for the folks who move on. Big companies do this all the time with the ebb and flow of any marketplace.
Axe is falling on executives at the Ren Cen today. Over a dozen in Legal.

@XpxUM8D-kjk there have been a couple posts saying that a couple directors left today.
Can you maybe post a little more info? "looks like some execs have been let go" is pretty vague. Looks like some contractors have also been let go, but that happened months ago.
