Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Signs on most of the conference rooms in my building already..

The signs all say "conference room not available, do not enter"..looks like it's happening Monday. I am in Pontiac powertrain.

All of this is really sad. The Detroit auto industry is f---ing dead but they're still the only chance you have to make a good living in Michigan unless you're a doctor or lawyer or something, and Snyder killed any incentives for other industries to come here and replace it. So the working class of Metro Detroit are in deep sh--. My father worked for GM Hamtramck from the mid-80s (when he was called back after a huge round of layoffs circa 1982) until he retired due to his cancer diagnosis about 13 years ago. He died about 10 years ago so he isn't around to witness what's happening to that plant. The Detroit auto industry never recovered from the recession. Very f---ing sad.

Unfortunately its not only a rumor. We've been told the majority of Pontiac global propulsion system engineering will move down to Warren after all the restructuring / layoffs are done. Seems like its still up in the air what's happening to folks in building A such as purchasing. For reference I sit in Pontiac building B.
