Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Managers still say they don't know

They gotta be kidding. Everyone is kinda numb. Just going about as if everything is hunky-dory. Really surreal.

Managers don’t know. Mine is clueless, more so then usual, and you can tell he is nervous too.

Everyone’s name is on the list. Directors and managers met when the announcement was made to rank us. I know this because they asked questions about our workload and experience.

Now is that what is actually going to be considered. Maybe. But managers only know how people were ranked when each group’s list was sent out and they were part of that list also.

I think managers know something. If they going to layoff people, they wouldn't do it blindly so HR must need "something" from the manager.

Yep, I have been hypervigilant since my director told me that everyone in my dept is at risk. I literally just started this new job 6 months ago. I was a superstar in my past group. Too bad...

I ask if I’m going to get cut, and they say “nothing is certain”. I have a hard time believing directors and managers STILL don’t know.
