College Hire Raises

First time poster. Just wanted to say that I've been on the college hire program and the scheduled raise that was supposed to kick in January appears to be delayed again. I've checked with members of my team and others here in Austin and it seems like no one has gotten the raise so I know its just me.

I think all but confirms that the layoff will come within the next period (most likely beginning on Monday since that's the day everyone seems to have circled).

Awww, did I make you feel bad? Is wishing others a character building bad time for being a stress-fueled ball of spite and anger going a little bit too far for you? If that's the case, I suppose I'm sorry. I didn't realize those posts were meant to sound civil and clear minded.

I'm not wishing ill will on them because they are "calling out" the asinine NCH/NCG program GM has put together. I'm not going to defend the flaws it has or protest that all or even a majority of NCH/NCG program members are not terrible at their jobs and/or overpaid.

What I will say is that those posters, and I suspect you too, are frustrated with their sh--ty under paid job, upset they are not getting what they like to think they deserve, are blaming people and factors that are not directly responsible, and are venting that anger the way they do because they have never had it bad but assume everyone else is having it easier than them.

And people like that should suffer, and make it through, real difficulties. They don't deserve to be happy yet, they deserve to grow and feel pain.

I'm not being classy, neither were they, but I am speaking the truth.

God Damn! These layoffs are really bringing out the bitterness and jealousy in some people!

Is it your first time going through something like this? Are you older and this is just juvenoia? Or are you just really this anxious and distraught?

Either way I feel sorry for you and I hope you lose your job and have a really hard time finding the next one. I think some hard times and some financial or health problems would do you good.

But I hope things work out for you in the end!

You're trolling, but the innovation centers really should be closed. They have way too many people, do no innovation, and most of the projects I've seen were almost make work projects that had no value to the business.

The business often fought against them. Didn't want them.

Instead of having thousands of people in the innovation centers, they could cut back to 200 really good people working on truly useful projects and be way better off.

Any NCG that didn’t get a raise is likely to get cut Monday.

To Anonymous who wrote "over half of NCH/NCG will be cut on monday"

You have no idea who or how many will be fired so zip your worthless trap you id--t.

This site is for people to pass along information that they have. Not for clowns like you to spew garbage

@Xoi4vcc-smj Hopefully they do it smart- there are definitely a lot of experienced hires who deliver >150% the productivity of newer hires without making >1.5x as much salary- and their experience greatly benefits the newer hires by virtue of teaching them, which delivers a ton of value.

The NCHs will lose the least.

They're cheap, which is what GM wants.

The people making more will be hit hardest, because cutting them saves the most money.

@Xoi4vcc-biq If you’ll read OP, they aren’t worried about the raise per-say. They are trying to guess lay-off date based on the raise delay.

@Xoi4vcc-mxd - Not bitter at all. NCH's are worthless and yet for some reason are granted opportunity at an alarming rate while everyone else is left to flounder (sans the manager-track people, of course). Good luck trying to come into this company as a young, experienced hire and grow your career. My point stands, f--- the NCH's, f--- this company and f--- you.

@Xoi4vcc-tvn don't be such a bitter b--ch. the NCHs got hired in either under or at the very bottom of their pay grade with the assumption that as they grow with the company they come up to speed and become properly valuable. Don't piss on people for getting raises just because you're not getting one, and question why your pay isn't going up instead. Be mad at management, not the other laborers. Being mad at your coworkers is just stupid sh-- management wants to keep everyone undervalued.

I heard from a manager that NCH raises would be on the Feb 15th paycheck. So hopefully that means this is all over by then.

God, I hate everything about the NCH's. Retro-active pay for HR reasons? F--- this company and f--- the college hires.

My manager had told me "raises for NCHs are deferred until the 2019 budget issue is resolved". So take that as you will. To me it sounds like any NCH scheduled to get a raise at the beginning of 2019 will not be receiving it until the layoffs are over. He also told me we will be getting back pay when they finally hand us our raises.

What is the likelihood that a NCH of 2 years or less would get laid off? Better chances than legacy employees? Or is everyone at risk?

Sorry dude, college hire here. I received mine. Might not amount to much if I get laid off. Maybe it depends on the facility?

January NCH raises are delayed until after layoffs and are going to be done retroactively for PR reasons; your manager should know this and should have spun it to you.

I know a college hire (Jan 18) that works at Pontiac. He just got his raise late last week. But still a candidate for a layoff.
