Mass layoff and putting the production of some models to a halt will not help GM reis money to fund the development of electric cars. In fact, with this, they have taken a turn in the wrong direction. Electric cars won’t be dominating the market for at least another 10 years, whit these cuts they raised some money and allocated the production abroad, think that that will generate a drop of quality of GM cars which was already been put to question. So my take is that sales and revenues will decline. How are they going to pay for the development of electric cars, my guess is more layoffs

These moves are to raise the stock price so the current regime can cash in their options and move on. The trend to non ice like electric or hydrogen are trends and will continue. We old dinosaurs will be the last ice holdouts. We will be the grandpas and grandmas so out of touch we are still using gasoline while we shout Get Off My Lawn.
I live in San Francisco , Marry dosent seem to be clear on much other than pumping out gigantic SUVs and trucks because gas prices are low , of course the consumer would want those vehicles at this time because of that fact. People in the United States like choice and currently the choice is other brands. My brand is a Dodge Challenger scat pack with the Shaker hood , why you ask ,well because it's awesome! Someone at FCA knows how to market and listen to the customer , they make driving a car fun , maybe GM can get there again , let's find out.
Marry was clear about halting production because GM doesn't make money on these models. Revenue and Sales go down but more profitable because GM stop losing money on non-profit model. Electric car will be dominated in 10 years so GM has to be ready for that, GM can't just run around for another 5 or 6 years and starts making EV. EV is a new trend and non-reversible. Try to step out of Michigan, going to other big metros, GM is not a popular brand. The only way GM can go back to these big metro market is EV.
