Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

I’m a Department Supervisor!

As a soon to be Department Supervisor and former SSM that was used and abused by the ASM’s and SM I am so looking forward to the new change, no more master key for me! My fellow dept managers I mean supervisors can’t wait!

Q: Are you a manager?

Me: Nope I’m a department supervisor let me get you a manager.

Q: Hey can you unlock this for me?

Me: Nope I’m a department supervisor I don’t have keys for that any more get a real manager.

Q: Why didn’t you come to the Monday meeting? I paged all managers.

Me: I’m not a manager anymore I’m just a dept supervisor and you have been telling me as a SSM for 2 years that I was totally unimportant so now I figured I matter even less now.

My fellow former SSMs and I are going to finally going to see the real managers actually do something cause after all they are managers we are supervisors

At my store in White Marsh they fired two specialists who both had years of successful management experience with larger companies and who were very successful salespeople at Lowes. Both were full time after retiring and both offered advice to our store manager on how to handle some situations.

Both were fired - "because they were smarter than us" and "associates would go to them first with nproblems"

What is hilarious is that these supervisors are supposed to make sure there is floor coverage and actually deal with customers themselves if there is a gap. These people will not deal with any customers. They will just be extra butts in chairs hiding off the floor. They will call the departments or call someone in another department and tell them to go take care of the buzzer. They will call these part timers who don't give a flip about Lowes and who know nothing. That is our future. Extra help on the floor was needed not extra lazy people sitting around barking orders. It is really a joke. It is true that the major problem is management in Lowe's and propagating incompetence. Why should someone inexperienced get a department supervisor position over someone experienced when the only difference is the inexperienced one is younger. It should be based on experience. They also manipulate the scores of the interview to ensure that the person they want gets the slot and to cover their butt with HR. It is so corrupt and pitiful and until this changes, Lowe's will continue sinking. No hope of bad management ever hiring anything other than bad management. The stores need management gutting. So much discrimination, affairs, giving away the shop to neighbors or friends, covering for ASM's who are supposed to be working but they leave hours early each shift, etc. Taking it out on the little people is the wrong approach. Beefing up "management" is the wrong approach because they are worthless.

Satirical genius!

Lowes has ALWAYS told it like it AINT! And you nailed it! There are effects, from causes. When you dont define, articulate, and choose explicit business practices, you create confusion, chaos, and inefficacy.

Youre right. These new "supervisors" are all making fun of Lowes, and themselves, because lets be honest - Corporate fkkd up. They eliminated "Dept Managers", made them another title(s) such as Service or Support Manager but in reality, we all kow what they did. They cut salaries and staff. But Lowes corp thinks they are smarter than all.

Now, in another attempt at deception, they realize they seriously fkkd up, but without any balls or pride, they dont openly admit it, instead they create "Supervisors", which are in reality, Dept Managers.

As long as Lowes wants to be lying, manipulating maggots, deceptive dic---ads, and tell it like it aint, no one will ever respect them. The very people which are now Supervisors even know this and are openly speaking poorly about it to subordinates.

All respect is lost at Lowes, and to be honest, liars dont deserve any anyway.

I actually do feel bad for many of you going through this but as for the ones in my store I could not be happier. "If you take care of Lowe's, Lowe's will take care of you" "If you are positive you can move up in this company" hahahaha oh yeah they certainly took care of them. Now they're mad because the same people they were pulling the blue bleeding cheer leading act in front of are asking them how they like being a department manager again lol.

Good luck with that thought process. As a former Dept Sup for Home Depot and a soon to be Dept Sup for Lowes, if they are trying to model this after Home Depot you will continue to be used and abused. I was a Dept Sup for Home depot for more than 8 years. We were responsible for everything but had zero say so for anything and no ability to effect real change.

I expect the same treatment in this role as well. I can already see the ASM's doing a lot of walking and talking but not a whole lot of managing. Because I give a sh-- about what I do I'm sure I will continue to pull the wagon while all of the ASM's sit in the back barking orders and taking credit.
