Thread regarding Lowe's Cos. layoffs

Silence speaks Volume

Very Dark Cloud overhead at my Tampa store,

Managers hiding, Secret meetings.

Managers not following up on work,

No Show job fairs----how embarrassing.

Silence speaks Volume.

I will be surprised if anyone over $12.00 hr is still there next week.

Record Low Employment, best time to get canned, everyone is paying more

I imagine the same things are happening at other locations. So much for investing in the future. OP is @XmeVwiH-leb

Can agree. Lowes is done and will never compete with Home Depot. Its not worth damaging your body or becoming ill because of the stress levels. When the lower level individuals have to steer the ship to stop it from capsizing... Its pretty much just taking on water until its ultimate descent. I would never buy anything from Lowes knowing that the margins exceed %50 on product. What respected and seasoned contractor, home owner, or DIY'er is going to settle for those prices. Essentially Lowes is only profiting from extortion and ignorance. Its slowly eating away at the stock value and most likely traffic in stores. Their innovative technology campaign is years too late and their restructuring methods have become toxic and ineffective. Somebody play the vioin. That ship is going under.

Lowes is a dump. Always has been. In every store Ive worked in (5), every Human Resource employee was unethical, lying, and deceptive. A clear representation of corporate Lowes and their lack of values. Management was even worse. And I was in upper management for 10 years. Thats saying something. Do yourself a favor and find a job outside of retail asap. If you ever wind up working for them and have Michael Spoto as your corporate Human Resource manager you better pay him behind closed doors with cash or he'll lie, and find a way to terminate you. That little, coward of a man has control issues, and if you are not a mo--nic "yes" man, he targets you. Even when you politely converse or disagree professionally on something (and with very good reason), he targets you. He is truly wrecking Chester Lowes by himself. Hes fired more good employees and replaced them with his incompetent pals to count, and the store has gone from best customer focus store of the year (corp party) to a place no one wants to work. All while he sits in his office, in his bow tie, drinking his Dunkin Donuts coffee and acting like he runs the store by making demands in am meetings in front of everyone. Its embarrassing. Hes an embarrassment not only to Lowe's, but to himself.

Hes just one of the 5 clowns in HR I've dealt but at least the others were fired for their actions. Which showed back then Lowes still had ethics. But now, this man was promoted to corp HR so it looks like hes doing exactly what corp wants.

Well, Lowes will get exactly what it deserves.

Best bet is don't wait to get laid off. In this economy, with plenty of jobs available, get out now. It's always easier to find a job when you already have one. Since I no longer "Bleed Blue" after getting my LP walking papers, I was in Home Depot shopping yesterday and while talking to a fellow in one department, I mentioned the mass LP layoff, and facetiously mentioned how classy it was for Lowe's to do it over the phone on a conference call. He told me he'd intended to try to get hired on at Lowe's. After telling him the tales of the turmoil at Lowe's under that former Home Depot guy who couldn't make it at J.C. Penney, with U.S. and Canadian Lowe's store closings, the closing of the Mexican division, the layoffs of LP, sales, and distribution center staff, etc. He wondered out loud why he'd switch to Lowe's when he was already with No. 1. I told him to think long and hard about it, and that I couldn't recommend it.

Getting the boot from Lowe's ended up working for me. I had no intention of leaving Lowe's, and wasn't looking, but I found a better paying position with better benefits and have a firm start date in February. Now is the time for good people at Lowe's to start thinking about moving out and up on their terms, rather than waiting for the ax to fall.

Rumor has it that Florida will see the next round of store closings due to over saturation of stores in that state.
