So many of us are just waiting almost begging for a spot on the next layoff list. Being part of this dying company is depressing in so many ways. Lines ok, pissing off even long time customers to save a buck no matter what is awful. Reducing use of coupons and returns. Clearly we are financially in trouble. Here's a thought. Can maybe we clean house of pretty much useless Dist and Reg staff office desk jockeys who do nothing? Why are they even still paid?? Half or more they are on their personal phones doing their own stuff. How in the hell do these useless titles even exist in this new market? Guessing old timers at Regional cover for them that's the only answer. Sad sad we sacrifice customer service for these POS. This would be a fun test...throw any Dist or Reg who are always quick to bellow and tell about lines. Throw them on a register. Good God I'd pay money to see that. Useless tired spoiled pieces of c-ap. Keep hiding behind your computer all day nobody respects your lazy overpaid useless a$$.

Your time is coming to experience the feeling of lay-off, sadness, feeling worthless and no were to turn, It Will Be Ok! I have zero problem with being in a lay-off if it’s for the good of the company. The big problem is still present at BBB, Senior mgrs, now that’s where you can get rid of the main problem. They lie, cheat the company out of work time (doing their own personal business) and bring down the hard working employees. You have senior mgrs that have been caught and turned in for inappropriate conduct with a female employee and lied his way out of it! I understand that several former employees have been speaking with corporate about the situation, I say fire that store mgr, he is not trustworthy! Oh well karma will get him and should! I wonder how stupid corporate will feel after they trusted his word to find out that an ex-employee still in the area took a picture of them in the stockroom, can’t lie your way out of that, pictures speak volumes!
As someone who spent a very long time with BB&B & held a great amount of responsibility I’ll say this:
-
The real leadership changes need to be from the RM on up. Most of these RMs, RVP & Execs have antiquated thoughts on mondern retail. NO innovation will come from these well compensated payroll anchors. These people have plenty of stock, don’t feel the pain and are just s---ing up space & money. Stockholders should demand those positions are cut immediately.

DM/AMs & support tend to be more boots on the ground in many areas. Working freight, cashiering etc...They have the pulse of the staff and the customer. They are more vital and many work very long hours. If new leadership comes in as t should, these people will be the ones that implement these changes.

Roles do need to change. Analytics, data warehouse, corporate mandated merchandising, assumed receipt, central ordering, online training, etc...have changed what district support is defined as or should be defined as. There should be a much greater emphasis on customer engagement & employee engagement. Let new leadership take the wheel on the rest. The culture independent merchandising is no longer financially viable.

LEARN FROM AMAZON. The latest strategy of restricting coupons, tough return policies, etc...is a re-run of a failed plan many dead retailers used. Amazon is VOLUME DRIVIN. You don’t gain sales volume by making the shopping experience harder. Duh... BB&B should be making shopping EASIER, fewer restrictions, more “YES” less “no”. It will cost margins BUT cutting all those fat cats off the payroll will help make up the difference. Get the customer in ENGAGE them and make the choice to not shop at BB&B much tougher.

Why can’t people leave? Because there’s nowhere to go. A lifetime of retail no longer makes for a great resume. Human Reaources should fuel an effort to help people revamp resumes & find places to land. That would be way better & create a kinder departure vs layoffs. Laid off workers DON’T shop at places that laid them off or spread any goodwill to a very connected society . BB&B could be better here but sadly will screw it up.
**** I could go on but I feel like it’s a waste. This is what should be done but won’t be. I hope all those hardworking store level people find a good job soon. They should only stay if there are wholesale changes in leadership.
This is to funny! To the laid offs, you are lucky not to have to deal with the day to day drama of this disfunctional company. To the employed, cross your fingers for a nice layoff package.
Why is anyone on this site who are still working for BB&B?
It’s odd that people come on to criticize posters who may have an axe to grind.
Maybe the critics who say”get over it” or “you must be a loser that’s why your laid off”, should just just move on with their lives.
If your still there good, still love your company great. Just understand maybe the many who were laid off, got a rug pulled out from their lives, maybe tried as hard as they could, built lives around a good paying job that they were dedicated to. Allow them to vent their frustrations.
It’s not as though the “snipers” need to go on a site that is related to lay-offs when they are still gainfully employed.
Wow you sound really bitter. If you're still with bbb you should leave. It's not a dying company you are so wrong but people like you won't help it be more successful. You just seem sad. Why would you hope for a layoff?? If you hate the company this much do it a favor and get out.
I’ll take “Bitter Laid Off Department Manager” for $600, Alex.
