Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Managers are also in the dark regarding the cuts?

Believe me when I say this , my manager knows absolutely nothing he's in the dark along with everyone else. I was contract and let go on December first from Pontiac GPS , I called him on the Saturday I was let go and he called me immediately and felt absolutely horrible , he had zero knowledge of the company cutting all contract people and expected me in on Monday , he told me this had nothing to do with me and that I was not singled out , his hands are tied due to restructure at the company. He also said his job could be on the line also , I believe him. I worked with kind and professional people in my group and I miss my work. All of my colleagues want me back but unfortunately until all of this ends I am told if it's even possible to bring me back it won't be for some time. This is extremely brutal for all of us. I wish GM would have handled this in a better way.

I believe this to be true. Lower managers are in the same pot as we are. This was originally posted by @XiqRFBx-1lyl .

When I was let go in December my Sr manager had a staff meeting in regards to me , I was the only contract person in my group and he let the whole team know that I wasn't coming in on Monday , everyone of my team mates we're devestated for me. I was at least told by my manager that my work was excellent and this had nothing to do with me personally and that it was not in his control , that coming from my Sr Manager , he had no intention of me leaving the team. This is Rediculous. My heart goes out to all of you that remain , I sincerely miss my job and my colleagues.

I believe some managers are powerless when they need to cut some head count from the team so they keep any news from the team members and only let them know on their last day thinking it's the best for everyone. The layoff might even be just like last december in Warren when almost all contractors were let go without any prior notice and no time was given to retrive personal items because of "security" reason.

So enlighten them! Have a mass walk out for a week or two. I mean everyone feels doomed anyway , so why not.
