The choice to abandon ship

I was an NCH and I left. I was looking to leave my team because they're hopelessly stuck in legacy tech and they're already talking about replacing our function with a third party company. I got good reviews and my team liked me, far as I know, but once the IVSP got announced, I started looking right away. The way I saw it, best case I stayed at my current position for months more, worst case I got let go. Both options s---ed, so I chose to abandon ship. I feel bad because my team was already shorthanded as hell, but them's the breaks.

A simple post that gives a good insight into the process of thought of people deciding to leave. Thanks, @XibnI59-xok

@XiyuPeI-1obr I'm the guy who posted this comment. Don't know wtf you're talking about. I put in my notice after the new year and served out my two weeks like any reasonable/non-vindictive adult. Dunno who the jerk you're talking about is.

There's no legal requirement for the employee to give 2 weeks notice when quitting, or for a company to provide severance when laying off. It's just commonly done.

Doesn't the voluntary separation require a minimum notice period? So how does one go on vacation (at least that is the declared intention) following a bereavement PTO and send out a notice of having quit on the day of resumption of duty from gmail while the computer bag is at the desk?
