Thread regarding Walmart layoffs

Walmart's biggest competitor took a lot of its high-level management

I was one of the displaced Co managers. Yes we did get choice of severance, step down and the unlucky few kept their positions. Nothing that was requested by store managers was listenered to. I have since gone to work for another company and let me tell you Walmart did me a favor, though I didn't feel that way at the time. Im happier than I've been in over 10 years. I talk to people still working in that environment and it's harder and harder. We all knew there would be more changes it's about the same time as it happened last year for the Co managers. It would not shock me if assistant managers were next. AP will be totally gone in the next couple years. So many people are now working for Amazon. Walmart's biggest competitor took a lot of its high level management. Honestly that's the way Amazon will win!! Good bye Walmart! I have always said after the apocalypse the only thing left will be Walmart and c---roaches. Probably gonna be Amazon....

I wouldn’t go that far as @XaD4MnD-6rpr and talk about this in the context of Walmart’s demise, but otherwise a very truthful post.

I know this is an unpopular opinion but I have worked at 5+ Walmarts between being fulltime or just visiting and can say the co manager reduction was a good call. Most stores had 4 and trust me no store had 4 good ones worth what they were being payed - some completely useless others doing about as much as ASM but getting paid significantly less. Trimmed that drain on payroll to increase starting wages, worth it in my opinion. I have heard bad things about Walmart and Amazon but I believe loyalty isn't worth much anymore and everyone should have their options open and be willing to take a different job wherever if it makes them happier. I am glad you landed on your feet and every co who got displaced I talk to has also found a new career and is happier so sounds like everyone benefited.

I had a few friends that were co’s and lost their jobs. Where do you work now? Glad your happier now. I’m sure your health is better to.
