Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

Terrible Company

Windstream is a below average Telecom company barely surviving on the oldest technology. They are lead by the worst management team I have ever seen. They over-work and greatly underpay their employees. Do yourself a favor and leave before you get laid off.

I’m not sure why you’re posting on this website. They’re going to outsource and automate as much as possible. Service delivery will be gone and orders will sit in the new “enhanced” SD process.

If you’re in SD you might want to have something in your back pocket.

"Same VP had not ONE word to say"

Just use these companies like they use their workers - learn a few new things then jump ship to a better company. Loyalty to companies is frowned on these days, do what is best for your career.

Companies interviewing candidates these days raise red flags if you have been in the same position for 5 years and don't show any meaningful learning. Just 'doing your best' and being loyal to your company will get you out on the streets with no job. 20 years with one company is a fantasy in the corporate environment, you can certainly earn more money over 20 years by learning new skills from each company, than from staying put and hoping for a promotion or any real retirement benefits.

It is shameful how Windstream treats tenured employees and even management during these times. I was just let go from a management position, to which I was always given high marks on every review and whom I was loyal to on many a time and stayed with them. I was let go by a former Earthlink VP who will tell you that he will not hire any former Windstream employees because they are the cause for why Windstream is where it is today, are not able to think outside the box. What they want to do is replace tenured folks with college kids to continue to survive. Same VP had not ONE word to say to be, a thank you and good bye would have been nice...but again note ONE word. 23 years of nothing but success for the company...and goodbye.

Can I ask: are you a Windstream employee,

or are you on this board to stir up trouble? This board is for employees, and their issues, not trolls to stumble upon and leave their two cents about what they think Windstream employees should do. As someone stated below, it is not everyone’s cup of tea. I do like Windstream even though it can be stressful at times. I do look and apply for other jobs. If you are not an employee, you are strictly an outsider looking in. In terms, mind your business, and let us talk amongst ourselves. This is family business, not business for you to be involved in. People who open these conversations seem not to be employees! If you are, I apologize. I know someone cannot force you, but don’t post comments on this site if you are not affiliated with us.

I've never had a problem while working at Windstream. I'm not mgmt and work somewhere within the Enterprise department. I will have that i've seen a few people who have left Windstream to other Telcom and came back. I understand that Windstream may not be the place for everyone but there are some who do still enjoy their job.

This is a tired post. We get it...

Windstream s---s, management s---s, update your resume, find a new job, etc, etc

How about we only post when there is an active layoff happening...literally every other post on this site is useless griping or speculation.
