Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Can someone explain who Randy Mott is?

I've seen this name mentioned repeatedly on here and have no clue as to the reference. What did I miss?

After 25 years of out-sourced IT at General Motors, Randy Mott seemed to be wise in returning GM’s IT organization to an in-sourced model. However, this turned out to be a prime example of “Be careful of what you wish for”. Randy initially espoused a personal principle that an IT organization should be 80% Development and 20% Operations, but eventually he decided that there didn’t need to be anybody in Operations and that the Development team could run anything. Now, under this model, IT at GM has turned into a micro-managed loony bin where the people who knew how to run the applications produced by the Development teams have all been laid off. Now, the patients are running the asylum.

Randy Mott is the biggest con man second to ERON , posted a $1.2 billion in technical debt that will never be achieved as it is charged to obsolete software or outsourced contracts . Randy forecasts future savings that will never occur . How ignorant Mary is to employ this hoax . Eventually Randy ad his Walmart boys will be exposed . Just when

Randy is the person ultimately responsible for Wal-marting information technology the people at GM researching, developing, prototyping, testing, validating, releasing, and manufacturing the actual products use as tools.

He's not allowed in the Labs.

Randall is the id--t who got you in this position. Where do they get these clowns to run large organizations. They are absolutely awful. I could name the last five on one hand who stink. Ralph was a real gem, Billy Boy, and Lester were god awful, Danny Boy and Clarence stunk. Ever notice that aging is catching up with Ms Barra. She looks 70'sish

Look, here's the simple question. Does it matter?

Once you reach a certain level within a company, and find yourself worth millions, do you honestly care if the company succeeds, or runs itself into the ground? At the end of the day, yours still worth millions, capable of sitting on the beach for the rest of your life, without a care in the world. You got yours, everyone else be damned.

These are the GM executive ranks. Mary is proving this quite true.

He's GM's current baby daddy. Forget Alfred P Sloan and the rust belt. Austinites own manufacturing now. If you don't believe me just ask Ahmed and company. Un(f'ing)believable that Randy could sell GM on that bill of goods.

Randy Mott is the rich dumb--s CIO that heads up GM IT. Oh and he has a very large ranch in Montana or some other state. Gotta love those 'Fireside Chats' between Randy Mott and Alan Batey, lol.

In this interview, he discusses the IT transformation he’s leading at GM, which includes insourcing 10,000 new roles, setting up innovation centers, and facilitating GM’s activities around self-driving cars."

All I know from the last town hall is he owns a lot of land up in Montana and keeps pet Ostriches.

I'm glad he shared that with us after sending a general announcement that some of us would most likely be sh-- canned heading into the new year.

Everytime he sits down with Alan Bately for a Town Hall announcement just expect them to figure out a new way to bend the lower rank and file over the barrel.

This thread is the perfect example of what is wrong with GM IT. They think they are the business and that everybody reports to them.

No need to be mean to the OP, many folks outside of IT do not know who he is.

OP - Randy Mott is the CIO, he heads all things IT - corporate systems, coding, development, infrastructure, etc. Anyhow, IT is his fiefdom and he's a true feudal lord.
