Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Criteria

I just wonder what criteria they're using to pick who goes and who stays?

Has anybody other than IT heard anything from management regarding layoffs? Our team is on the business side and our manager hasn't heard a thing about whether or not we're going to be affected.

Michigan is "at will" work. You can walk away from a company in a second and so can the company replace you in a second. Get that and you wont be complaining so much

It's not just indiscriminate layoffs based on salary though. They're looking to eliminate duplication and bloat. How they chouse who to release will be salary driven. They will also be eliminating managers/directors where teams can be moved to other orgs.

Stop saying performance and criteria. It's strictly age.

Where the buyouts aimed at 12 year candidates or more, based upon performance and salary? Use your head.

Performance and salary, but it's in areas where they no longer need the number of employees they have. They're not going to be cutting every department.

Engineers, marketing, IT and executives
