Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Jim Vena on a discouragement tour.

We heard UP’s new COO is going shop to shop looking at basic operations on the floor. From what people say his main focus is non producing workers, cussing people out and killing morale. Anyone see this going on yet? What’s the point? Get people to feel discouraged and leave on their own?

What kind of person, set for life, comes back into the game, when he could be living a life of luxury on some island somewhere? One who loves the kill and the taste of blood.....

They also have pen recorders that record a great deal. That may be the only way to save yourself via litigation. UPRR has the money and attorneys to ruin your life. I know first hand.

Remember....lance fritz brought him in. And check the law. Usually only need consent of one person in a recorded conversation. That one person is YOU. An American legend is be dismantled. So long UPRR. We miss Jim Young.

I personally have never met Mr. Vena, nor worked for him.

However, I have worked for CN after he retired and his reputation was that of a man who swore, yelled, and was very aggressive. People were happy that he finally left the company, as they were also relieved once Mr. Harrison did the same thing.

Unfortunately, we are clearly entering a period of rampant corporate greed in the railroad sector where the interests of employees and customers are last; with employees being dead last. As someone who has been laid off from an iconic American company, UPRR, it saddens me to see where capitalism is headed in this country and certainly, where it heading for the railroads.

Mr. Vena, like Mr. Harrison, is your typical rags to riches story, but without the class, empathy, and proper treatment of fellow man that ironically, someone with a little more education and a little more wealth up front may have.

I saw a bunch of protesters carrying a sign saying "Abolish ICE, Abolish Profits." They looked young, white, motivated, and in my opinion delusional and dangerous. With every hard working union worker, or so called "management employee"...many of which are simply educated workers, that is laid off from a demanding private sector job on the heels of record profits...every time one of us laid off, the company not only looses a dedicated asset, but makes at worst a bystander to the aforementioned protesters and at worst, someone who will actively join them.

But back to Vena; make no mistake, he is a corporate monster and where Frits started attacking what was left of his in house professional staff, Vena will go after the unionized worker. When a millionaire who was once a brakeman goes after his own people, knowing full well how hard it is for a working man or woman without a whole heck of a lot of education, to make a railroad age, that is despicable.

In case you work for UP and see this, make sure you have your parachute packed.

Small voice recorders are very small and effective, cry all you want about being against the law lol anonymously sent to the media and a laywer will have a field day with it. Remember up is a company who says its against retaliation so let the games begin unless you guys are so scared to do anything and take the cussing and go back to the locker room and cry like b--ches.

Worth $9 Billion and he comes out of retirement to save UP and wipe out the workers. What a P.O.S. and a pathetic reason to exist.

Get witness statements. File a complaint and get a good labor lawyer.

Great advice to record him. Not only is that explicitly against UP’s employee code of conduct, depending on which state you are in when you do it, it’s also a crime to audio record someone without their consent.

Personal electronic devices will get you walked off with a critical violation. Make sure you are in an authorized area. For us, it is in the breakroom during authorized lunch time.

I tell you what he will only cuss me one time. Men get yourselves a voice recorder, record his a-- cussing you out take it to the media thats how you beat that game. You talk to a human with respect you dont degrade them. Record the conversation and send it to the media they will eat him and up alive.
