No help: Lowe's vs Home Depot

My mom is planning and has signed a contract for a very large remodel so I have been helping her with some product selection and things. We went to one Lowes and were in there for 1.5hr, not ONE person came and asked if we needed help. We went to another Lowe's that is closer to her house (30min and 5min) and we were in there for 1hr and the only associate that acknowledged us was a flooring associate that asked "hows it going?". I'd never worked in either of these stores. We went to the Home Depot right down the road from the second Lowes and we were in there for about 1hr and had 3 different associates come and ask if we needed help. This is why Lowe's is losing. Management hides in the back and there is nobody on the floor. Hell, the second store we went too didn't even have anyone scheduled in cabinets! I stood at the cabinet desk and could see cabinets, appliances, and plumbing and there wasn't a red vest in site.Keep in mind is was 10:45 when I got there BEFORE my mom so well within the mighty "power hour".. Where are the associates?

My mother had a similar experience. She asked to speak to a manager about the lone associate who provided assistance. He was too busy to speak with my mom.

My mother wrote a letter to Marvin praising the one associate who helped her.

Our store never has anyone in cabinets half the time. Never past 7 at night. People come in asking and are told they have to come back in daytime hours.

Oh just take whatever you want.

As far as cabinets go, they’d either come in wrong or get damaged upon arrival.

You should be happy no one helped you.

Lowes staffing model is to only staff when "most" customers shop. Problem is, that leaves "some" customers without help. This brings up the avg ticket per hour of payroll spent, but it brings down the overall sales of the company and leads to less repeat business overall.

On their vital stats they can cheer about how payroll os leveraged, but its easy to leverage payroll when you don't have staff. The company is being managed for stock holders, not for customers or to increase sales.
