Thread regarding Windstream Corp. layoffs

No way to avoid cuts

The companies that have the potential to buy WIN want the company of its assets, not its employees, so if we get sold off to someone there will be mayor cuts, same story if the company gets sold in parts, liquidation, well we all know what that means. We just have to face the fact that we are in a lose-lose situation and try to land another job as soon as possible. Absolutely no benefit in stickin around and waiting.

What assets? They mostly belong to Uniti.

What will happen is that the mid level management who needs to be cut will keep their jobs, and who will suffer; we will. Managers will get rid of a quarter of their team and divide the work up amongst the rest just to save their job. They go back to their office to watch Netflix and YouTube videos, and then scream at the supervisor and wonder why the work is not being done in a timely manner. You knew how a way to save your job, and screw over hard workers in the process. In the end, all there will be is upper and middle management who will work at Windstream. Upper management (i.e. directors and Vice Presidents) have either turned the blind eye to this, have no idea what is going on, or simply do not care what is going on. They need to grow a pair and act like upper management. Middle management is running this company, and when upper management takes back control and gets rid of nonsense middle management positions such as staff managers and some team leads then just perhaps we could beat this bankruptcy thing, and people could enjoy going to work again.

Im a cst for Windstream. I work a lot of rural areas, the service is awful. Serious they can not even pull 1 Meg, I get calls all the time for slow speeds, I cant fix it, its awful. I think it will only get worse just trying to find another job. The customers are p-ss-d and take it out on me, just tired of the stress

Worst case scenario is Winstream gets bought out. Yes, anytime a merger happens there are synergies and reductions. If you are a top performer you shouldnt worry. Regardless of what company you work for that company wants hard workers.

We'll be repurposed into Windstream chili cooks. The problem right now, is sourcing hotdogs.

"Win always kept the majority of employees."

That was the OLD WIN, now it is cost-cutting time - and everything goes - except the executives. Think things were bad before, this will be much worse. Because they have filed Chapter 11 - and any non-essentials are gone. Outsourcing will speed up as well.

Anything and everything will be chopped off. Maybe the only ones left at the company will be the executives after this is all finished.

Duh, you act like this is a revalation. Win has bought quite a few companies for their assets and subscribers, welcome to the other side of the equation buddy. I’ve beeen part of many of the past planning sessions to “synergize efficiencies” and all I can say to you is welcome to the party pal.

Depending on what type of work you do a new company might need you for a short time. Maybe you get lucky enough to convince them to keep you on. If you work on stuff that everyone works on then yes it probably wouldn’t be good
