Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

Has this been announced before?

Just read about more than 100 employees being cut from the processing center in West Chester - is this something that I somehow missed before or is this a new announcement?

I'm hoping this is something I missed, because I was honestly hoping we were done with layoffs at least for a while.

Just read an article last week that stated GM closing Westchester permanently at the end of May 2019.

The West Chester parts processing center work is being moved to a new facility in Burton MI (it will be combined with another Flint area processing center that is closing). GM employees, many of whom came from the Dayton Delphi plant, were offered jobs at the new processing center, altho I think the terms are difficult (ie, I think they will lose their seniority again). And, of course, contract workers aren't offered anything. I also think there are more than 100 people affected. Probably twice that.

Sorry, your job went to the new greenfield Burton facility. I thought employees were being located, but apparently not.

Because this round of layoffs came at a time when the company was doing well, I think it's safe to assume that they will never be done with layoffs. I guess last year's big push for "safety" did not apply to job security. No one is safe.
