Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Depressing news, but....

....at least summer will be just a couple months away once they end half day Fridays. Then we’ll be back to half day Fridays again!

That’s not so bad. Right? Come on guys, cheer up.

Say what? It’s the nine straight months after summer you dread. Oh yeah, you’re right. My bad ☹️

Anyone know what hours they expect salaried employees to work now? 8-5, m-f?

Company is pure evil along with all upper management. Head lady in HR is nuts and is responsible for this.

What better way to tell your loyal employees to feck off? 3 weeks notice they’re terminating a decades old employee benefit giving zero consideration to parents who need to arrange for child care & after school transportation now that they’ll be working all day Fridays. This is an added expense that surely Mattel’s uber wealthy executives didn’t considered since they all can afford full-time staff. If you’re an hourly employee guess what? You’re going to work an extra hour each week for the exact same pay. So that extra week of vacation they gave everyone earlier this year? You’re actually earning it. Of course you knewthere had to be a catch. And if you’ve been with the company 10+ years you had already maxed out your paid vacation so you’re giving the company an extra week of free labor. Plus Non-exempt employees will burn through their vacation time faster because they’ll need to submt40 hours vs current 39 hours. Nothing says Wonder like screwing over your employees. Mattel’s next movie will be called “Mattel Breaks the Internet” because all Mattel employees will be swarming the job sites today. But I’m sure that’s exactly what Yyawn intended.

As to the last comment, that’s because this ailing company is in such a high priced real estate area. Nobody other than upper management can afford a decent home unless they buy property farther out. We’re all suffering because the execs don’t want to give up their Palos Verdes, Manhattan Beach, Hermosa Beach, etc. lifestyles. Short drives for them.

They should move us, and the company, all to Texas. Yippeeekiyiyeah!

This happened cause many lazy people in ES never showed up on Fridays. It is a ghost town on Fridays and would all pretend that they were working from home. Logic was that the long commute is not worth the 5hr day.

How well did that work out for us all?
