Thread regarding General Motors layoffs

It is a big risk to allocate your job, knowing they might do the same or worse again?

Moving to another state for work is easier said than done. People built their lives at these places and moving to another part of the country is hard as it is, but the bigger threat that is in the minds of these workers is the fact that there is no guarantee that they won’t do this again, lay people of and offer another location. Imagine the fact that someone sells his house moves his family, gets his kids into a new school, and GM sais in a year or two that these locations will be hit bay layoffs.

I know I can't move , imagine being a single parent with a mortgage and then your lively hood is taken away. I fully understand that in life there is no guarantee with anything , I think we all can appreciate and wish that business wasn't this brutal and heartless at times but it's a plain fact. I am super close to finishing my degree and almost got hired at GM , well I was lucky to be contract and got cut along with thousands of other people , it feels like many years completely wasted but the other sad truth is alot of talented folks with degrees got cut too for no reason at all. I am very worried.
