The merger talks are all about tmo and how we're going to do things their way. That's normal as they're buying us, but we're moving down to just a handful of buildings in Overland Park, which means less seats - and this is just the beginning. Oh sure, we'll have a call center - who wants to downgrade their salary. I'm going to get out while I can, while there are still jobs in KC without 25,000 other Sprint employees looking.

Retail, admin, call center = bloodbath. Executives - adios, engineering and professional ICs well maybe you will be kept but only because it is so hard to hire experience in that area. Sprint Biz and related core network - who knows?????
I heard Sprint said will have to layoff if merger does not happen, does not matter if merger does or does not happen more layoffs will probaley continue either way, sprint could disappear sooner or later, looking to bail out now would be a good idea.
I can attest to this.
Very, very recently I witnessed a team come through our large building (not a retail store) looking at the floor layouts, departments, employee roles etc.
I imagine the layoff stages will look something like this.....
Sometime between now and 4/1 (new fiscal year), 6 months from merger (probably Januaryish 2020), 2 years from merger.
I think the 6 month mark will be the bloodiest
performance and real estate are coming into play already. TMO has hired a team to decide what locations stay and what locations go. There was a survey done recently on each sprint property to determine its viability. Things such as upkeep of the shopping center its in, rent costs, performance and foot traffic. These things have been in play for awhile now, but very hush hush within the sprint corporation.
re: retail
Do you really need someone to tell you the answer to that question? What do you think they are going to do?
Has anyone heard what they're doing with stores located so close to each other? I'm in a store and we haven't heard anything. We are all worried that Sprint employees will be the first to go.
Check your numbers - Overland Park doesn't have 25,000 employees. Go ahead and leave - just makes me have a better chance of keeping a job.
