Maybe it’s in human nature to think everything will work out eventually and that the storm will pass, but judging by what they are announcing, this storm is here to stay. Automation, outsourcing, reorganization, layoffs,... does it really matter what the form is in which they are doing the changes? The only info that’s relevant here is that we are in for a couple of years of insecurity, stress, and not to mention being overworked that whole time, until our turn comes. The best conclusion I can draw from this situation is that it’s an ideal time to start looking for a new job while I’m still on the payroll.

It’s not exclusive to PepsiCo. Look around you. Companies are downsizing and automating left and right. The world is undergoing a massive transformation that will permanently alter society. It’s going to be painful.
